Jan 24, 2020 · In my case, the vacuum breaker became sticky from age. I took the vacuum breaker off (using a hex socket, I forget the size) and gave it a vinegar bath and good scrub. If you go this route, remember to apply teflon tape to the threads when reinstalling. I also had issues with the boiler overfilling, which will exacerbate the "spitting".
